How To Spend An Autumn Weekend In Harrogate

As the crisp and colourful Autumn leaves fill the parks and we begin to feel the temperature drop, there’s no better place to spend an Autumn weekend away in Yorkshire than in the picturesque spa town of Harrogate.

Here’s our guide on getting the most out of 48 hour break in this stunning Yorkshire town:

Friday:

You’ve arrived in Harrogate on Friday evening, so it’s time to kick off your weekend with a culinary bang by dining at Norse restaurant- a place popular with the locals due to its excellent fine dining menu & experience.

Once you’re finished at Norse you can head out to one the town’s best bars. If you’re after a night of blues and live music head to Blues Cafe Bar, for a great selection of Yorkshire ales then check out the Little Ale House, or if cocktails are more your thing - Banyan Bar & Kitchen offer the perfect choice.

Saturday:

Morning:

Begin your Saturday with a hearty meal at one of the various much loved Harrogate breakfast hot spots. If you’re looking for something healthy we recommend Farm Whole Foods & Bistro, serving interesting dishes like the stewed prune breakfast, plus a refreshing selection of smoothies. For cute decor and a delicious, well presented breakfast we also recommend the Wild Plum.

Wrap up warm and then finish off the morning with a walk around the beautiful and well kept Valley Gardens or the RHS Harlow Carr Garden.

Afternoon:

The colder Autumn weather makes a spa day even more appealing, and after the morning’s walk it’s time to relax at one of Harrogate's various spas.

Enjoy a contemporary spa experience in the magnificent surroundings of the Turkish Bath’s & Health Spa, with a range of rejuvenating treatments on offer. Alternatively, Harrogate’s Rudding Park Spa offers some great packages and their signature Rudding Park Jewel Ritual.

Evening:

Time for a visit to one of Harrogate’s many beautiful theatres. From contemporary performances to comedy drama, you’ll surely find something to enjoy at either the Royal Hall, Harrogate Theatre or the Pateley Bridge Playhouse - Harrogate is a town bursting with culture with great performances on all year round.

Sunday:

Morning:

After breakfast it’s time to get wrapped up again and see what outdoor wonders are nearby. We’d highly recommend a visit to one of the nearby castles such as Knaresborough Castle or Ripley Castles And Gardens.

Afternoon:

Many say that you can’t come to Harrogate and notpay a visit to Betty’s for afternoon tea. They offer a scrumptious selection of sandwiches, cakes and other tasty lunch options - there’s good reason why people are often queuing at the door to get in! Once you’re finished be sure to visit their shop where you’ll find lots of sweet treats to take away with you.

Evening:

To finish an enjoyable weekend away in Harrogate we’d recommend a final stop at the newly opened Everyman Cinema. Sit back and relax in a comfy sofa with wine and wood fired pizzas, whilst watching one of the newest blockbusters.
